Chisholm, Alice Maude - Long-time Bala resident and Veteran of WWII died peacefully on Wednesday, January 14th, 2015 at the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital, Bracebridge in her 102nd year. Known simply as "Auntie Alice" to many, she loved spending the summers at her home on the Moon River in Bala and the winter months in St. Petersburg, Florida where she enjoyed swimming, lawn bowling and bird watching. She was a member of the Bala United Church as well as the Muskoka Field Naturalists. Alice was fiercely independent and her travels took her to many parts of the globe including the US, Europe, South America and The Galapogos Islands. In recent years, Alice resided at James Street Place in Bracebridge where she was an enthusiastic bridge and euchre player and a much loved and respected member of that community. Most of all, she cherished any opportunity to receive a visit from her family and friends where her keen mind and wonderful sense of humour were ever present. Alice is predeceased by her husband Vince Chisholm of Halifax, Nova Scotia and her brother Tom (Isabel) Edwards of Bala. She is lovingly remembered by her nephews Don Edwards (Linda) of Waterloo, Paul Edwards (MaryAnne) of Burlington, Keith Edwards (Tammy Majander) of Bala, George Edwards (Penney) of Milford Bay, Christopher Edwards of Gravenhurst and Shawn Chisholm (Doreen) of Burlington. She is also fondly remembered by Jennifer Meek, Leanne Edwards and Ralph and Valerie Robinson. Great Aunt Alice was much loved and will be missed by her many grand nieces and nephews.
