McMillan, Mary Alice. With heavy hearts and profound sadness the family of the late Alice McMillan announces her sudden passing. She was called home to heaven on October 3rd in her 89th year. Alice was a dedicated elementary school teacher spanning a long 30 year career with the Roman Catholic school Board in Hamilton teaching mostly history and geography at Our Lady of Lourdes. In 1987 she retired to her stone cottage in the Town of Bracebridge where she lived happily in the beauty of nature surrounded by the birds, plants and other wildlife that she so loved and enjoyed until just a few weeks before her death. She led an active healthy retirement making many good friends in the community where she was a performing member of the local Glee Club. Alice was born in Sault St. Marie in 1925. She was predeceased by her parents J.P. Lynch, Mary Lynch and by her brother Edward Lynch and sister Audrey Hanley. She is survived by her brother Patrick Lynch (Wanda). Alice is also survived by her three children Georgia Golemba, Dexter McMillan (Carolyn) and Dawn Novak (Ed) as well as her much loved grandchildren Paxton McMillan, (Lesley), Catherine McMillan, Nicholas Novak (Erin), Gregory McMillan (Elspeth) and two cherished great grandchildren Bradley Novak and Clara Novak. Her beloved granddaughter Natalie Novak tragically predeceased her. Additionally Alice is survived and fondly remembered by her very dear nephews and nieces James Lynch (Renata), Tamara Lynch, Dan Lynch (Vicky) and Linda Armstrong (Gary) with whom she shared numerous memories and enjoyed many visits. In lieu of flowers Alice expressed a wish for donations to be made to the Natalie Novak Memorial Fund for the Education of Violence Against Women c/o MWAG PO Box 748 Bracebridge, ON. P1L 1T9. A memorial Mass will be held in St. Patrick's Church 89 Rain Lake Rd. Kearney ON. on Friday October 18th at 1:00 PM with the interment of her ashes next to those of Natalie in the adjacent church yard to be followed by a reception in the church hall.
