Anna Victoria Pennick
5 October 1923 – 1 July 2019
After a long life and a very short struggle with cancer, Mom passed away on July 1st, 2019 at True Davidson Acres, Toronto.
Mom was born in Poland and grew up in Russia. She was displaced numerous times during the war, and immigrated to Canada in 1947. She went first to Winnipeg, then moved to Ottawa and Toronto, eventually settling in Port Sydney, her home for over 50 years. After John’s death, she moved to an apartment in Toronto to be closer to family. Deteriorating health eventually led to another move to a long-term care facility, just over four years ago.
Anna leaves behind her beloved daughter Vicki (Nabil) and grandchildren Nancy and Sharif (Krista). She was a dear aunt to Chris, Astrid and family; Philip, Erica and family; Vicki and Peter; Tim, Carol and family; Morad, Arlette and family; Dora, Raafat and family; Magui, her late husband Emad and family; and Ashraf, Haidy and family. She was pre-deceased by her cherished daughter Margie; her devoted husband John; her dear brother-in-law and his wife – Bert and Nancy; and our late father, Alex.
Mom touched the lives of everyone she met, and was loved by all. She will be sadly missed by everyone.
Arrangements are with Reynolds Funeral Home in Bracebridge. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Mom’s life will be held at Knox United Church in Port Sydney at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, 11th July 2019, and she will be laid to rest beside Margie, in Stephenson Cemetery in Port Sydney.
