Arthur Upham

UPHAM, Arthur Fredric Died peacefully on Monday, November 14, 2011, at the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital, in Bracebridge, in his 74th year. Beloved husband of Donna of Bracebridge, whom he married in 1959. Loving father of Thomas (Tracey), Scott (Linda) and Dale. Proud grandfather of Corissa & Cole. Dear brother of Patricia (Ed Hexter), Leslie, Wilbert (Sharon), James (Maureen), Arthur P., Colleen (Randy Reneaud), Louis (Donna), Michael, Cathy, Danny, Shawn, Dawn (John Martene) and the late Larry, Sharon, Phillip, Dennis, Maureen Liorentas & Brian. Survived also by many nieces and nephews. Art joined the RCAF and served from 1960 - 1966 as a metal technician. He served in Gimli, Manitoba, where his 3 sons were born and also in Germany, until moving back to Essex, Ontario where he worked for Chrysler Canada as a millwright. The family moved to Muskoka in 1969 and Art worked for Alcan until 1987, when he pursued his own business in carpentry and building until retirement in 2005. Art enjoyed snowmobiling and motorcycling, was a great ‘Mr. Fix-it' helping many a friend when they had troubles with cars, snowmobiles or bikes. Art loved travelling and for 20 years, he and his wife Donna were full-time RV'ers, spending summers in Muskoka and winters south to Florida and Texas. Many friends were made along the way, all over Canada and the USA. At the family's request, cremation has taken place and no formal funeral will be held at this time. A gathering to celebrate Art's life will be held at a later date. Memorial donations to the South Muskoka Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
