Betty M. Speck
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Betty (Margaret) Speck, age 85 on December 2, 2023, at The Pines Long Term Care Home in Bracebridge with family by her side. Betty was born in Muskoka. She is predeceased by her parents Alvin and Amelia Leeder. She was a businesswoman in Bracebridge and owned businesses on the main street. She operated a Clothing Store and a Meat Market with her husband Merv (predeceased). Betty loved to travel with family, do puzzles, and tinker in her garden. She was a very giving and kind woman who gave much to her family and her community.
She is survived by her brothers – Lawrence & Arnold Leeder (Jane) and her sister Verna Slater (Ron), daughters Deborah Payne (Marshall), Christina Purdon (Robert), and son Dwight Speck (Stephanie). Betty was loving grandmother to 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren and will be dearly missed.
A service will be held at Reynolds Funeral Home in Bracebridge, on Saturday, January 13, 2024, with Visitation from 1 pm - 2 pm, a Celebration of Life Service at 2 pm, and a Memorial Reception at Browning Hall following. Memorial donations may be made to The Alzheimer’s Society (Muskoka) and The Pines LTCH (Auxiliary) in lieu of flowers. Online condolences can be made at www.reynoldsfuneral.com.
