Beverley Medley

April 8, 1950 — September 21, 2022

Bracebridge

Beverley Fern Medley (nee Piper) passed away peacefully in Port Carling at Andy’s House at the at the age of 72. Beverley was born in Brampton, Ontario to parents Kenneth and Eva Piper.

Bev is survived by her loving husband Garry Medley of 51 years and two children Heather Medley Fernandez (Gabriel) and Norman Medley (Angie). She will be greatly missed by her five “grands” Alan, Drew, Antonio, Paige and Jordyn, her brother Don Piper (Sue) of Sarnia, her Aunt Mary and many nieces and nephews. Bev will also be missed by her many close friends through knitting, time at the cottage, Fort Myers, Florida, TLDSB co-workers, Bracebridge tennis club, SMMH Auxillary and neighbours.

Bev lived for gardening and maintaining a pristine lawn just like her father. Bev and Garry enjoyed many years of travelling throughout the East Coast and the states, The Rocky Mountaineer, an Alaskan Cruise, Disney Cruises with “her grands”, visiting her niece in Barbados and winters in Florida.

Bev found joy in being active in a variety of ways. You would often find her out walking with friends, downhill or cross-country skiing, show shoeing, partaking in water aerobics both in town and in Florida, exercise classes or learning to floss in front of the bathroom mirror at the cottage with “her grands” and especially active when putting on the “happy dance” show for each farewell.

Bev spent much of her time reading and knitting. She was really excited when grandchildren started arriving and she could graduate from mastering socks to more complex projects such as: vests, dresses, mitts, hats, sweaters and so much more.

Thank-you to her Oncology team both at RVH and Soldiers Memorial Hospital.  Special gratitude to Dr. DiMaria and Dr. Cohen at RVH and the nursing staff, especially Nurse Rajni. Thank you to Dr. Lim and the nursing staff at Soldiers Memorial. Thank you to South Muskoka Memorial Hospital staff and particularly Rebecca Turner in the ER.

Thank you as well to the palliative care team at Andy’s House. You made Bev’s final day very peaceful and welcoming.

A celebration of Bev’s life will be held Saturday, October 15th from 2-5pm at Kerrie Glen Golf Course, Bracebridge.
