Blanche Sellens

SELLENS, Elizabeth "Blanche" (nee Brault) Passed away in her sleep, at her home in Muskoka, on Monday, September 12, 2011 in her 84th year. Beloved wife of Morley of Muskoka, ON. Loving mother of Robert Sellens of Chilliwack, B.C. and Joan Sellens of Bracebridge, ON. Blanche met her husband Morley in high school and they were sweethearts until her passing. She studied nursing at St. Joseph's Hospital in Hamilton graduating in the Class of 1951. In 1971 she moved with her husband to Kansas City, Missouri and in 2002 moved again to Carlisle, Pennsylvania returning every summer to enjoy Muskoka. Blanche loved animals, especially dogs and had many pets during her life. Among her many interests were bridge, cooking, reading (especially murder mysteries) and she was involved in a book club in Pennsylvania. She was also involved with children community theatre while in Kansas City and was an avid NFL fan. She also enjoyed cultural events and lived in the perfect area in Carlisle to explore and enhance her knowledge of American Civil War history. Blanche loved getting together with her family and friends. Volunteerism was an important component of her life. She was active with the YMCA, Big Sisters, AF Services Foreign Exchange Students and also assisted at a Psychiatric facility. Blanche's family was very important to her and she and the family traveled with Morley on business trips whenever possible. Cremation has taken place. As an expression of sympathy, memorial gifts may be made to the Breast Cancer Foundation or OSPCA Muskoka.
