Strachan, Brian. P.Eng 1931 - 2012. Fair-minded, generous, warm. An accomplished athlete with the twin passions of Cricket and Soccer. A skillful woodworker and tireless home renovator. A good husband, father, friend and neighbor. A good man. Although born in Durham, England, Brian had a Yorkshireman's perspective and wry sense of humour. His two years' National Service was conducted in the Royal Engineers Regiment, where he served mostly in Singapore. Shortly after, Brian married Anna Patricia Robinson and immigrated to Canada where they started a family. He worked as an engineer for The Atomic Energy Commission of Canada, and, in this capacity, accepted a two-year transfer to install nuclear reactors in Bombay, India, before returning to Mississauga. He designed and built a cottage in Muskoka, which eventually led the family to settle in Bracebridge after Brian's retirement. Brian died of mesothelioma on Tuesday, Oct 2nd, leaving his wife Patricia, children Nicholas and Jane Michaud, and grandchildren Christopher, Dylan and Sarah. In accordance with Brian's wishes, there will be a simple cremation with no funeral service. Donations to the Algonquin Grace Hospice in Huntsville, or your local hospice, would be appreciated.
