Charles Gibson

GIBSON, Charles Wilbert Peacefully passed away surrounded by his family at the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital, in Bracebridge, on Friday, September 23, 2011 at age 95. Charles is survived by his beloved wife of seventy years, Margaret (Bailey) Gibson of Bracebridge. Loving father of Marilyn Gilbert of Toronto, Beverly Gibson of Toronto, Rosemary Gibson of Toronto and David Gibson (Donna) of Newmarket. Proud grandfather of Mark Gilbert (Sally), Marnie Bretz (Virgil), Matthew Gilbert (Linda), Stefan Pietrowski & Lauren Pietrowski, Patricia Gibson, Elysa & Colleen Gibson. Great grandfather of Eva Li, Willem, Estelle & Wolfgang Bretz, Alexandra & James Gilbert, Natasha & Lara Gilbert and Phoenix & Sky-Rose Gibson. Dear brother of the late Eldon Gibson, Alda Graham and Mary Schall. Charles was the last in line of four generations of Ontario Land Surveyors; a direct decendent of David Gibson (Gibson House) who was the first surveyor of the City of Toronto. Cremation has taken place and a private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Charles had a great love of family, the outdoors, sailing, gardening and his summer home in Muskoka. He enjoyed people and his wit and humour will be greatly missed. If desired, memorial gifts to the South Muskoka Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.
