(Charles William) TED Boon

April 10th, 1931 – January 19th, 2023

It is with sadness we announce the passing of Ted Boon on January 19, 2023 at Muskoka Shores Long Term Care home in Gravenhurst at the age of 91. Left to mourn his passing are Linda, his loving wife of 53 years, daughter Laurelle (Rich), son Graeme (Sarah), daughter-in-law Nancy, grandchildren Audrey, Malcolm, Ellie, Lara, Neil and Sarah and seven great grandsons. Ted was sadly predeceased by his son Ted Jr in 2011.

Ted was born in Toronto and raised by his maternal grandparents in Ingersoll, Ontario. Following a few other short lived jobs, Ted commenced his 33 year career with the Ontario Provincial Police in 1958. During his career he served in Victoria Harbour, Wasaga Beach, Elmvale, Bala and then to Barrie where he became a familiar face in Public Service announcements on radio and television. He was then posted to Sombra, Thunder Bay and finally Bracebridge in 1984 as Detachment Commander where he retired in 1990. In Bracebridge, he began a secondary career as Santa Claus and brought much joy to youngsters now adults who will remember fondly his authentic “HO, HO, HO's!” Ted's retirement years included working for Muskoka Containerized Services and house painting.

His life cannot pass without recognizing his association with Muskoka and Golden Rule Lodges and Muskoka Shrine Club. They were an inspiration in his life since joining in Barrie in 1974. Old timer hockey was his favourite sport and he coached many games for Port Carling and Humphrey teams. Ted will be remembered for his love of family and friends, his willingness to always lend a helping hand and his enjoyment of social gatherings no matter the occasion.

Linda, Laurelle and Graeme would like to acknowledge the kindness and devotion of the dedicated team of care givers who looked after Ted over the past 4 years at Muskoka Shores especially during the difficult years of the pandemic. We are truly grateful for these unsung heroes.

A Masonic Funeral Service will be held at 1:00pm at the Bracebridge Legion Branch 161, 168 Muskoka Rd., Bracebridge on Thursday, February 2nd, 2023 followed at 1:30pm by a Celebration of Life.

In lieu of flowers and in memory of Ted, donations made to the South Muskoka Hospital Foundation at http://www.healthmuskoka.ca would be greatly appreciated.
