David Bullock

March 10, 1941 — August 9, 2019

Gravenhurst

Bullock, David Emerson with a brief but courageous battle of cancer, he passed away at home on Friday, August 9, 2019.  David was born in Peterborough in 1941 with 3 younger sisters Lois, Phyllis, and Doris.  When he was 16 years old he moved to Toronto worked by day as a carpenter and at night got his auto mechanic tickets.  While in Toronto he met many friends but one in particular fell in love with Glenora R. Russell.  They married in 1962 and had 2 kids Rodney & Loretta.  When the kids were young they moved to Bracebridge to raise them in a small town.  He started his contracting business for about 7 years.  In the early 70’s business was booming in Southampton, Ontario.  Dave and Glenora moved their kids to Southampton where he found out he had a brain tumor.  With many surgeries and rehabilitation they decided to move back to Bracebridge in the late 80’s.  In the 90s he decided to go into partnership with his son Rodney in Huntsville.  D & R coin Laundry.  In 1993, his wife Glenora passed away at home with a short but courageous battle of cancer.  They were married almost 30 years.  It took Dave a few years of getting his life back on track and that’s when he started to spend time with Cheryl Redner.  They were married in 1995 and resided in Gravenhurst for 24 years.

Still working very hard in the construction business for over 50 years.  Dave worked on buildings, renovations, painting, opening and closing cottages, snow blowing in the winter months and being involved with the Pinegrove Baptist Church.  He never stopped working and he was compassionate about his wife, kids, grandkids and now great grandkids.  He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A big thank you to Dr. Kappos, Dr. Gupta, the Intensive Care Unit at South Muskoka Memorial Hospital, Closing the Gap and the Community Care Group.  A very very big thank you to nurse Shannon.  She was our rock in the last week of his life.  We could not have done it without her support.

Thank you all for your prayers thoughtfulness and talks.  David was predeceased by his first wife Glenora and sister Phyllis.  Left behind by his wife Cheryl, son Rodney Bullock and daughter Loretta Beer, Sam, Dan & Miranda, Rhonda & Peter, Sarah & Carl, 12 grand kids and 4 great grand kids.  Sister Lois, Doris (Allen) and nephews and niece.  Dave will always be in our hearts and minds.  He might be gone but never forgotten.
