David Ivar Eidsness, 69, born on January 1, 1953, in Bracebridge Ontario, passed away on April 5, 2022 peacefully at home surrounded by his family. Best friend and husband to Sherri-Lee Eidsness (Readman).  Proud father of Jodi Remouche (Scott), Jennifer Chaudhari (Prashant), Jamie-Lee Newton (Derek), Jeffrey Eidsness (Crystal), Jane Eidsness, and Jacklyn Robins (Jesse).  Adored grandpa of Justis, Nicholas, Rachel, Ishaan, Priya, Holly, Jillian, Dillon, Solan, Joel, Brody and Sadie. Cherished brother of Catherine MacDonald (Jim), Allan Eidsness (Marion), and Ruth-Anne Conway (Barry) Will be met in heaven by parents Ivar and Margaret, daughter Jodi and granddaughter Sadie. David dedicated 28 years of service to the Gravenhurst Fire Department, achieving ranks of Captain, Deputy Chief, and Chief Fire Prevention Officer. He began his career building roof trusses for Building Trades. Hired by the Town of Gravenhurst, he spent 28 years in the Building Department, retiring as Chief Building Official. He led his life with integrity and honesty, was hardworking, creative and had a quirky sense of humor. He had a wide range of interests including computer programming, woodworking, milling, and blacksmithing. He liked to build and fix anything with wheels; from his vintage Ford tractors to his pick up trucks and Mustangs. He enjoyed spending time teaching and sharing his knowledge with his kids and grandkids. David loved being outdoors and leaves us with fond memories of summer picnics, camping trips and Harley rides. You could often find him at his beloved bush lot working on a new project or making maple syrup. In keeping with David’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held at a future date.
