David Pride

PRIDE, David Gerald (1941 - 2014) David died peacefully at The Pines, in Bracebridge, on Thursday, November 27, 2014, in his 74th year. Beloved husband of Carol of Bracebridge. Loving father of Karen Nickel (Paul), Dan Pride (Paula) and Susan McAllister (John Nicholson) all of Muskoka. Proud grandfather of Tyler, Courtney, Nathan, Caroline, Michael & Mike. Brother of James Pride (Vana) of North Bay. Also survived by sister-in-law Debbie Temple (David) and father-in-law Donald Dotzert (Marilyn Evans). David was born in Waterloo, Ontario and lived there until 1986. As a successful auto-mechanic he owned and operated Pride Automotive for 15 years before moving to Muskoka. In 1986, Dave and Carol purchased Whitehead Marina on Beaumont Drive, where it became Pride of Muskoka Marine. David loved adventure and the outdoors. Dave purchased his first boat when he was 18 years old and that was the beginning of a lifelong enjoyment of water sports and fishing. David met the love of his life, Carol Dotzert, in 1959 and they were married in 1964. They recently celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in July of this year. Family was always a priority in their lives. David's positive attitude and perseverance enabled him to overcome the challenges of several strokes. He was a genuinely good man and people would naturally gravitate to him. He was warm-hearted, accepting, and jovial. He was a natural team-leader and everyone had a deep respect for him. He was loved and will be greatly missed. All are welcome to join the family on Saturday Dec 6th from 2pm-4pm at Pinegrove Fellowship Church (295 Taylor Rd., Bracebridge) for an Open House Celebration of Life. As your expression of sympathy, memorial donations to The Pines, (c/o the District Municipality of Muskoka) would be appreciated by the family.
