Donald Goodale

Donald Leroy Goodale Sept. 17, 1936 - January 31, 2010 After a lengthy illness, Don passed away comfortably at Leisureworld Nursing Home in Gravenhurst with family at his side. Survived by Martha, his loving wife of 53 years and his children; Ann Goodale, of Waterloo, Tracy Waites (Bruce) of British Columbia and Glen (Darlene) of Bracebridge. Loving Grandfather of Amy Fraser (Matt) of Waterloo, Sarah Meder (Jake) of Barrie, Natalie Buttars (Mike) of Salt Lake City, Utah, Curtis Goodale, Amanda Goodale (Kyle Belanger), and Adam Goodale (Brittany Henderson), all of Bracebridge; Great Grandfather of Evelyn Meder, Hailey Belanger and Jordan Buttars. Don will be remembered by his brother Tom Goodale (Diane) of Burlington and their families as well as his extended family. Don was born in Hamilton, lived and worked in many places but enjoyed Muskoka the most. He was employed as a steamfitter/gasfitter and retired from Sunnyside Nursing Home in Kitchener. He enjoyed camping, the family has many memories from that time and later in life he had developed a love of woodworking before becoming ill. It was his dream to retire to Muskoka, set up a shop and spend time with his family. Unfortunately his illness prevented him from enjoying that dream. Don was a member of the Golden Rule Masonic Lodge of Gravenhurst and a past member of the Gravenhurst Legion. The family wishes to thank all those involved in Don's care during his illness with special regards to those who were with him at the end at Leisureworld. We now hope Don is at peace and enjoying a drink with those who have predeceased him, especially his parents, Roy and Lillian Goodale of Hamilton and his mother in law, Daphne Kerr. Cremation has taken place. Interment will be in the spring, at Mickle Memorial Cemetery in Gravenhurst, June 4, 2010, with a celebration of his life with his family and friends to be held June 5, 2010.
