Dorothy "Joy" Woods

Woods, Dorothy Joyce –With sadness in our hearts the family of Dorothy “Joy” Woods announces her peaceful passing in her 91st year on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at Muskoka Shores in Gravenhurst, Ont.    Cherished wife of the late Bertram.  Much loved mother of Norman (Susan), Brian (Ruth), and Bradley (Dawn).  Devoted Grandma of Lindsay (Kevin), Dennis (Rachelle), Leanne (Tim), Jennifer (Tony), Shawn (Courtney), and Korey (Brandon). Great grandmother of Thomas, Matthew, Ethan, Rocco, Dante, Jared, Knox, Jett, Callahan, and Laurel.  She will be sadly missed by her brother John (late Janet) and sister Marjorie (Bill) and by her many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Born and raised in Toronto, Joy spent many years working as an administrator at both Scarborough General and Scarborough Grace Hospitals, with most weekends spent at the family cottage in Bracebridge.   Joy’s passions for gardening and entertaining were only surpassed by her love for her family. In 2012 Joy moved to Bracebridge. There she became an active member of her church community and delighted in spending time with her ever-growing family.

Many thanks to the amazing staff at Muskoka Shores for their care and kindness.  A Celebration of Life will be held next spring in Bracebridge.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Muskoka Alzheimer Society.
