Gardiner, Ethel May In Loving Memory of Ethel May Gardiner Sept. 22, 1929 - June 18, 2014 It is with a heavy heart we announce the sudden passing of our dearest Mother and Grandmother, Ethel Gardiner. She was the eldest daughter of Joseph and Violet Maxey of New Liskeard, Ontario. She was pre-deceased by her sisters Isobel Hamilton and Doris Dempster. For nearly 60 years she was the beloved wife of the late Robert (Midge) Gardiner. Many people will remember Mom from her days of working at the old A & P on Manitoba Street (where Shoppers Drug Mart now stands). She gained many friends and acquaintances while working in the meat department. She had a bubbly personality and everyone who was lucky enough to meet her, would remark on what a lovely lady she was. Mom was the heart and soul of our family. She so enjoyed gardening, family get-togethers, shopping trips with her daughters or her girlfriends, going to the casino, and spending hours on the phone talking about anything. Just don't call her on Wednesday nights, that was TV Bingo night and the phone was off limits. That was what we called an "Ethel Thing". She enjoyed life to its fullest and would never admit to aging, and boy it showed! She was a beautiful woman both inside and out. Her greatest joy though was her family. Her grace, independence, unconditional love, support and guidance built the foundation for her close knit family. She leaves behind her children Robert Gardiner (Trissa), Cathy Medley (Greg), Don Gardiner (Theresa Robson), Vicki Goheen (Cliff), and Glenn Gardiner (Kim). Cherished grandmother of Connie Medley (Mike Blanchard), Mitchell Medley, Jeffrey Goheen (Jennifer Barbier), Samantha, Evan and Taylor Gardiner, and Jordan and Riley Gardiner. Devoted great Grandmother to Lexi Blanchard. She will also be dearly missed by her sister-in-laws Beverly Kelly and Helen Gardiner and her many nieces and nephews and her wonderful friends Marg, Bev and Marilyn. Although she is no longer with us, we will forever remember her beautiful smile, her sense of humour, her pep talks, her hugs, her kisses and her "I Love Yous". Forever in our heats, we love you too Mom. At Ethel's request, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. As an expression of sympathy, Memorial Donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Kidney Foundation
