It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Evelyn Cowan (nee Hall) on Saturday, March 16, at the age of 96 at Andy’s House in Port Carling.
Born in Port Sydney on December 18, 1927, the youngest of four girls, to Hilton and Winnifred Hall. Predeceased by her loving husband, Colan Cowan. Also, predeceased by her precious daughter, Jill. Loving mother to Penny (Matt) Bowes and much loved grandma of Briann and Charlie. She will be greatly missed by her best friend and sister, Maisie (Gordon predeceased) Tremain. Predeceased by her sisters, Madge (Percy) Traves and Ruth (Lloyd) Markle. A cherished aunt to many nieces and nephews, she will be especially missed by Lorraine and Shirley.
Evelyn started teaching at a young age in one-room schools around the Muskoka area before moving to Bracebridge Public School. She gave up teaching to spend her time raising her family. She then worked as a medical secretary for a number of Dr’s in Bracebridge. She enjoyed gardening and volunteering for a wide range of organizations.
Visitation will take place at Reynold’s Funeral Home in Bracebridge on Friday, March 22 from 2-4.
Funeral service will take place at Pinegrove Fellowship Church in Bracebridge on Saturday, March 23, at 1pm.
Thank you to the Dr’s and nurses at South Muskoka Memorial Hospital for the care they gave.
A special thank you to all the staff at Andy’s House for the incredible care and compassion that they gave to all of us while we were there.
In lieu of flowers a donation to Andy's House Hospice in Port Carling would be greatly appreciated.
