Evelyn Clare Jones (Allott) July 7, 1930 – September 20, 2024

Evelyn "Eve" Clare Jones, born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on July 7, 1930, passed away peacefully at Castle Peak, Bracebridge, on September 20, 2024.

Eve's lifelong passion for music blossomed during high school when she took on leading roles in Gilbert and Sullivan operettas. Her singing teacher nurtured her talent, who encouraged her to perform at the Kiwanis Music Festival and in her church choir, where she often sang solos. In 1948, she earned a scholarship to the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, where she completed her singing degree.

For 17 years, Eve was a paid soprano soloist at Grace Church on the Hill, which led to her meeting her future husband and best friend whom she loved dearly, Robert Malcolm Jones, to who she was married at Grace Church. Robert predeceased her on June 30, 2007.

Eve’s love for music extended into her community life. Teaching piano and singing lessons in her home Eve loved to play the organ for St. Thomas Anglican Church in Bracebridge and Christ Episcopal Church in Bradenton, Florida. She was also known for performing at weddings, funerals and leading sing-alongs at South Muskoka Hospital and Castle Peak.

Later in life, Eve was especially proud to contribute to the Castle Peak residents' book project, “At Your Age” with all proceeds benefiting local charities.

Eve leaves behind her son, Geoff Jones (Cathy) of Ayr, and her daughter, Wendy Attwell (Jeff) of Bracebridge. Her grandchildren will dearly miss her: David Jones of Bresleau, Roslynd Brown (David) of Bracebridge, Angie Brown (Jacob) of Bracebridge, Taylor Rhodes (Matt) of Cambridge, Jordan Attwell (Tyler) of Barrie, Jamie Attwell (Brayden) of Victoria Harbour, and Josh Attwell (Nikki) of Midland. She was a proud great-grandmother to Andrew, Aiden, Brayden, Gabriel, and Paisley.

Donations can be made in Eve's memory in lieu of flowers to the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (OSPCA).
