Garnet Carl Kahl

August 26, 1928 – October 7, 2024

Garnet passed away peacefully at Nipissing Manor in Corbeil, ON, at the age of 96. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 60 years, Marion Beverley Dewar, who passed away in April 2015. He was a devoted father to Crystal Campbell (Cliff) and Shelley Carrick (Nathaniel); a proud grandfather to Shannon Carrick (Ernesto), Garrett Campbell, Dwight Carrick (Kory), Sterling Campbell (Megan), and Dana Campbell (Ryan); and a loving great-grandfather to Noah, Emery, Onyx, Pearl, Charlie, Chelsea, and Callie.

Garnet is survived by his siblings: Doris Lantz, Muriel Lyons (Gord), John Kahl (Elaine), Madeline Kahl, Florence Hall (Frank), and sister-in-law Lynda Kahl. He was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Valera Kahl; his sisters, Norma Sullivan and Victoria Elliott; and his brothers, Edward Jr. Kahl, Robert Kahl, and Franklin Kahl.

Garnet spent over 20 years near Clifford, ON, working hard on the family farm, before changing careers and eventually joining the OPP. He was assigned to Cobalt and Kirkland Lake, ON, where he met the love of his life, Beve. They made Kirkland Lake their home, and Garnet accepted a position as a Postal Worker. His intelligence and work ethic led to him obtaining employment at the North Bay District Post Office, as well as Postmaster positions in Callander and Gravenhurst, ON.

In retirement, Garnet and Beve settled in Muskoka, where they enjoyed curling, canoeing, attending church activities, traveling with their trailer, and spending time with family. Garnet also loved gardening, walking, and playing the violin.

At Garnet’s request, there will be no funeral service. Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Reynolds Funeral Home in Bracebridge, ON. His family extends their heartfelt thanks to all who have offered support during this time, including the wonderful and caring staff at Nipissing Manor.

Garnet's memory will live on in the hearts of his loved ones, and his legacy will continue through the generations of his family. May he rest in peace, reunited with his dear Beve.
