Obituary for

George Howard Simpson

September 28, 1932 – October 11, 2024

Age 92

George passed away peacefully after a brief stay in the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital.

He was born and raised in Shanty Bay near Barrie. His parents were Lila and George Simpson.

He started working at Evans Construction at age 18 (1950), and many years later, while still working at Evans, he met “the love of his life” Marion Mills, when a co-worker invited him home to meet his sister. They were married in 1960, lived in Bracebridge, and raised their 2 children.

In the early 70’s George purchased his own dump truck and sub-contracted mostly for Fowler’s Construction until his retirement in 2000, when he sold his last truck.

George was a loving Son, Brother, Husband, Father, Uncle, Grandfather and Friend. He was a hardworking man who always was willing to help his Family and Friends when he could.

George loved to talk, enjoyed gardening and long walks in the bush.

George will be sadly missed by his wife Marion Simpson, his son Christopher Simpson, his daughter-in-law Barbara Simpson, his Grandson Sheldon Simpson, his sister Lorraine Yasher, his sister Ann McMaster, his Brother Donald Simpson, his Sister Susan Simpson, Brother-in-law Allan Mills, and many Nephews and Nieces.

He is predeceased by his Daughter Virginia Simpson, Sister Rosemary, Uncle, and Brother Gordon Simpson.

As per George’s wishes, there will be NO funeral service or Celebration of Life.

In lieu of cards or flowers, please donate to the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital Foundation in George’s name.

Thank You to Dr. L. Tsugios and the team and staff at South Muskoka Memorial Hospital for all their kindness and care looking after him during his brief stay.
