WOROUNIG, Herbert Markus - Passed away at South Muskoka Memorial Hospital on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at the age of 86. Beloved husband of Ursula (Paeg) Worounig. Loving father of Christa Liddy (John), and Kirk (Allyson). Cherished grandfather of Emily, Nicole "Coco", Anna, Samantha, and Stephanie. After immigrating to Canada from Austria in 1953, Herbert got his start as a meat packer in Timmins Ontario before moving to Toronto in 1955. He partnered with his brother in opening Worounig Bros Meat Market in the Bloor West Village in 1957, introducing many sausage recipes from back home and quickly attracting a large European and local clientele. In 1960, he married a lovely customer of his, Ursula, and together they moved to Etobicoke where they raised their children. They had a love of the North and bought their first cottage on Little White Fish Lake in 1964, subsequently moving to Lake Rosseau in 1983. Herbert retired in 1990 so they spent more and more time in Rosseau and have called this place their home for the past 25 years. The home was his pride and joy - he enjoyed gardening, especially trying to coax fruit from his northern orchard, and shaping his country retreat through old fashioned hard work. Herbert was an outdoorsman and enjoyed many years of fishing and hunting. He was also a committed life-long Leaf's fan, rarely missed watching a game, and kept the dream of a Cup run alive. Friends are invited to join the family on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 11:00am at Church of the Redeemer, Rosseau. Interment in the Rosseau Cemetery. Reception to follow. Arrangements entrusted to Reynolds Funeral Home. Personal condolences may be sent at www.reynoldsfuneral.com
