Irvin James Cain

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our father, Mr. Irvin James Cain. 

Dad took his final breath at South Muskoka Memorial Hospital, where his care was second to none. Dad is survived by his wife and our mother Opal Constance (Connie) Cain. His two sons, Cary J Cain (Ruthann) and David J Cain (Wendy). There are three grandchildren Ryan Cain (Alana), Brodie Cain (Sydnie), and Gillian Cain (Rylan). And three great grandchildren Reef and Indie (Ryan and Alana) and Benton (Gillian and Rylan).

Dad came from a large family including Winifred LaFlamme Cain (mother) and Wilfred “Freddy” Cain (father). Brothers and sisters included Edna Cain Zawacki (Sigmund), Alfred Cain (Noela), Clifton Cain (Antoinette), Ronald Cain (Astrid), Joan Cain (John), Alvin “Laddy Buck” Cain (Marlene), and Marie Mulnar (William “Bill”). Marie being the last survivor of the siblings.

 “Come on in. Can I get you a drink?”

These are the words that greet us every time we arrive at our father’s door. It is hard to put into words everything you meant to us all. Your contagious smile is forever etched in our memories. Your eyes will forever shine and dance in our minds. Your work ethic unwavering. Your community involvement and charitable work inspiring. Your kind and giving heart a joy to be around. A day spent with you was truly a gift. There is no one who loved their hometown more than you. Your love for Percé was undeniable. Your deep affection for Muskoka a very close second. And walking, and walking, and walking while singing ladada dee dada dee!

 And one by one, as we all meet you again, I know you will be there to greet us and say, “Come on in. Can I get you a drink?”

A Memorial Gathering will take place on Friday, October 25th, 2024 from 1-4pm at the The Venue, located at the Canadian Raceboat Hall of Fame Museum, 1512 Muskoka Road 118 W, Township of Muskoka Lakes. 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to South Muskoka Memorial Hospital, The Terry Fox Foundation, Alzheimer Society of Muskoka or a charity of your choice.
