Janet Macey of Bracebridge, Ontario died peacefully at home on January 4, 2018. She was born Evelyn Janet Nixon on November 18, 1935 in Toronto. She graduated from St. Clement's School (Toronto) in 1954. Janet married a wonderful man, Paul Macey, in 1956 and they had three daughters. She worked as a secretary at Our Lady of Mercy School in Honey Harbour and later had a successful sales career with Westin Hotels and the Huronia Tourism Association. Janet was active in the community, organizing after-school activities, volunteering with the CWL, the PTA, the School Boards, the Honey Harbour Historical Association, and later in life with her local Parkinson Support Group. Janet was predeceased by her husband, Paul, in 1997, and by her parents, Jack and Kay Nixon. She is survived by her partner, Helmut Zapfe; three daughters, Kathie (Bryan) Rosenberger, Heather (Wilf) Lade, and Elizabeth Macey; five grandchildren, Lisa (Bryan) Kosmack, Craig (Jess) Rosenberger, Adrienne, Elliott, and Evan Lade; and two great-grandchildren, Gavin and Nora Kosmack. Janet is also survived by her sister, Heather Diduch, her brother, Bob Nixon, and many nieces and nephews. Janet's daughters would like to thank Kristin, Jan, and Kailee from CCAC and the special gals from Care Partners for the excellent and compassionate care she received in the last months of her life. A special thank you to Dr. R. Gupta whose surgical skills allowed Janet to enjoy three wonderful months with her family. The family will receive friends at the Reynolds Funeral Home at 1 Mary Street in Bracebridge on Thursday, January 11, 2018 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. followed by a service in the Chapel at 1:30 p.m. As your expressions of sympathy memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
