Janis E. Lynd

Janis E. Lynd (Johnson) passed peacefully on February 20th, 2025 while surrounded by family at Bracebridge Memorial Hospital. 

Janis was 76 years old and was born in Toronto, Ontario, April 19, 1948, and grew up in the neighbourhood of Newtonbrook. She was predeceased by her parents, Marjorie (Hearn) of Sundridge, Ontario and Alvin Johnson of Toronto, Ontario, and by her brothers Richard and Douglas (Sue).

Janis met the love of her life, Peter Lynd and married him on January 30th, 1971. They enjoyed 54 years of marriage and welcomed 3 children, Shannon (Oyakhire), Cameron and Ryan. 

Janis and Peter moved to Bracebridge in 1976 where she worked as a nurse for many local medical professionals. While living in Muskoka and raising their family they enjoyed skiing in Huntsville and spending summers in Bala at their family cottage. Janis and Peter enjoyed traveling and have visited many places in North America, St. Maarten and Bermuda.

Janis was a loving and supportive parent and Nana to her 3 grandchildren, Zane, Kobi and Ojay as well as a Step-Nana to Enahoro (Kaly), Efemame (Moses), Oloigbe and Esere; and Great Step-Nana to Ekhosa and Erosen.

A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date this summer. The date to be announced.

Janis had a great love of animals and in lieu of flowers donations to the Ontario SPCA Muskoka Animal Centre in her name would be greatly appreciated.
