After a long, happy life, John Charles Cookson went to sleep surrounded by his loving family at home. Born in Winkleigh, Devon, England, on March 3rd, 1934, John was fourth of ten children born to John and Edith Cookson of Nantwich, England. He is survived by his wife of sixty-one years, Carolyn, their children, Jennifer Lyndon (Robert), Stacey Jansen (Peter), Jason Cookson (Christine), Stephanie Jutras (Glen), and Morgan Cookson (Randi), and grandchildren, Jessica, Taurean, Cobey, Nevan, Lauren, Cohen, and Clark. John spent his early career at A. V. Roe Canada Limited, Jaguar of British Leyland in New Zealand, and retired after thirty-seven years with TransCanada Pipelines. John will be fondly remembered for his kind, generous nature and his British wit. He loved the outdoors, travelling, time at his Old Mill Hunt Club, and especially time with his beloved family. Services will be held at Reynolds Funeral Home "Turner Chapel" in Bracebridge, on Wednesday, 06 September 2017 at 1:00 p.m. Family extends a special thank you to the nurses at MAHC and NSMLHIN for their compassion and support. Family and friends are encouraged to hug a tree in memory of John.
