With profound sadness we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, and Grampy John(Jack) Malcom Ellis at South Muskoka Memorial Hospital on July 29th, 2022 with his family by his side after a brief illness.
Jack was born in Annapolis Royal Nova Scotia on December 5, 1937. He served with the 1st Battalion of the Royal Canadian Regiment from 1956-1968. He served in Canada, Continental Europe, and Cyprus. It was when he was stationed at CFB Borden that he found his way to Muskoka where he met the love of his life Gail (neé Donald) and where they were happily married for 63 years. They moved back to Muskoka with their three children Laurie, Leanne, and Kevin in 1972.
He dedicated his life to serving with the Royal Canadian Legion. Serving for many years as the Service Officer and Cadet Liaison Officer to 2250 The Muskoka Pioneers Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps.
He will be sadly missed by his wife, Gail Anne. His children Laurie Hines (Brad), Leanne (Andy), and Kevin (Shannon). Cherished Grampy to Jennifer (Edward), Joey, Tori, and Kyla. Great Grampy to Brian. Missed by his many nieces and nephews. Fondly remembered by Kim Brown and Joe MacNeil.
Service Details: Sunday, August 7, 2022 at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 161 (168 Muskoka Rd, Bracebridge ON). In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 161 Poppy Fund.
