It is with great sadness that we announce that Joseph Henry Dufton has passed away. Joe was a vibrant, humorous, energetic husband, father, grandfather, and brother, who lived an amazing life. On April 23, 2022 Joe passed away peacefully at Woodstock Hospital after sustaining a fall. Joe was loved and appreciated by everyone who knew him. His signature quick wit and friendly, charming personality were a hit with everyone he met. A kind word and a helpful hand were always soon to follow. If you saw Joe coming your way, you knew he would brighten your day, and leave you smiling and laughing.
He met the love of his life, Joan Beverley Ingleson on a blind date at a New Year’s Eve party. They were married in 1955 and had three sons, Gregory, Geoffrey and Michael. Joe spent his career as an electrician and worked for several different companies in Toronto. In the 1970’s Joe decided to become an entrepreneur and started Dufton Electric in Bracebridge Ontario. After many successful years, Joe joined Ontario Hydro as an electrical inspector until he retired. His retirement years with Joan, were spent first at the home they built overlooking beautiful Lake Muskoka, then in Bracebridge along the banks of the Muskoka river, overlooking the Bracebridge falls. In 2017 they moved to a wonderful retirement home in Woodstock, Ontario, where they spent their final years together.
Joe is survived by his loving wife of 66 years Joan, his three sons and their wives, Gregory and Deborah, Geoffrey and Helen, and Michael and Malini, and his four grandchildren, Holly, Stephen, Jai, and Priya. He is also survived by his youngest brother, James, as well as his wife, Susan. He is forever in our hearts, and always leaves us with a smile upon our faces when we think of him. Until we meet again, rest in peace Dad. We will take good care of Mom until she is ready to be reunited with you again.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Joe’s 92nd birthday on Monday May 16th, from 2:00 – 4:00 pm at Brock & Visser Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock, ON.
If desired, memorial contributions to the Alzheimer Society Southwest Partners - Oxford would be appreciated.
