It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of June Karen Thompson (nee Smith) on November 29, 2024, at the age of 65. June died at home with her daughter, Karen Dianne, and her son, Robert Scott, at her side.

June was predeceased by her husband, Ervine Louis Thompson, and her parents, Alice and Gordon Smith. She will be very much missed by her children, Karen and Robert, and her sisters Gail (Boris) Znebel and Glenna (Trevor Studden) Smith. She will be fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews who shared many childhood evenings with June at her cottage on Lake Muskoka.

June was born in Bracebridge and grew up on the shore of Lake Muskoka, next to the farm of her grandparents, Bob and Minnie Pearcey. She attended Monck Public School, Milford Bay Public School, and Bracebridge and Muskoka Lakes Secondary School. June married Ervine Thompson and they raised two children at his family home in Muskoka Falls. With Ervine’s passing, June and the children moved to their current home on Richard Street in Bracebridge. 

June was very sociable and loved spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed traveling and meeting new people. June was generous, spread joy, and loved celebrations. She was very fond of her church family at Knox Presbyterian Church and was an avid fan of curling and Olympic sports. June will be remembered for her friendly smile and her sunny, good-natured personality.

Friends are invited to join the family at Knox Presbyterian Church at 120 Taylor Road in Bracebridge.
