Keitha Marguerite Lang Boyer January 2, 1929 - July 5, 2015 Keitha (Kit) Marguerite Boyer, our beloved mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend passed away on July 5, 2015. Kit's passing is a great loss to us all. Kit's life was filled with challenges that would overcome others, but with strength, resolve and her positive outlook she created a full and productive life, enriching the lives of those with whom she knew. One of her favourite sayings was: something good always comes out of something bad. Her quick wit, welcoming smile and genuine warmth will be missed by all. Keitha is predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Edward (Ted) Boyer and is survived by her three children Karen (Kerry Harmon), David (Sharon) and Kevin (Mary). She has left a big hole in the lives of her grandchildren, Jessica and Lara Harmon, Andrew and Annika Boyer. Keitha was predeceased by her brother Joe. Her surviving brother Jim Lang and sisters Marie Glass and Ruth Blanchard will miss her terribly, as will her many nieces and nephews. Keitha was a natural teacher; she was at her best when showing someone a new skill or empowering them with some snippet of knowledge. Over 30 years ago Keitha invited like-minded weavers and spinners to a meeting which resulted in a vibrant group, the Pinecone Treadlers that are still active. Involvement with the provincial organization took her to workshops and conferences all over Ontario. Books were a constant companion to Keitha and for 20 years she worked as a library assistant at Bracebridge Public Library. Her talents were rewarded with many ribbons at the Bracebridge Fall Fair for her bread, preserves, knitting, weaving and spinning. Keitha gave generously to her community volunteering for many organizations and assisted with all the activities her children participated in. Keitha has gone to join Ted, hopefully to dance the night away without pain. She has left a wonderful legacy for those of us left behind, she will be missed daily. "Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn." (Benjamin Franklin) A celebration of Keitha's life will be held on August 9th at the Royal Canadian Legion, Bracebridge from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. with words of remembrance at 3:00 p.m. Memorial donations in Keitha's honour can be sent to: Ontario Handweavers & Spinners, PO Box 1444, Everett ON L0M 1J0. www.ohs.on.ca (Revenue Canada Registered Charity)
