Kevin passed away peacefully on June 16, 2022 at the age of 50.
After a long and valiant battle with cancer, Kevin had fought through many health issues the past several years remaining strong and positive throughout it all. Kevin fought hard until the very end, as the warrior he was.
Kevin accomplished many things over his life. He was a member of the Air Cadets for 5 years prior to joining the Canadian Forces as an Infantry Soldier. He served in the Toronto Scottish and Lincoln & Welland Regiments. He served honourably for 12 years.
Kevin attended Brock University and was the first in his family to earn a degree. Kevin was a member of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity, Ontario Zeta Chapter. He stayed in touch with his fraternity brothers over the years and had fond memories of their time together. Kevin was passionate about rugby and played on the Varsity team at Brock University during his time there, and continued to play for many different clubs after he graduated, in both Toronto and in the Niagara area.
Furthering his education was very important to Kevin, and he went on to successfully complete many courses over the years to further his career as a Financial Advisor. Kevin worked in the financial industry for nearly 25 years, pausing his banking career briefly in 2014 to become a sailor with the Seafarer’s International Union of Canada. He had great memories of his days on the ships, as it was so far outside his usual realm of working in an office setting.
Kevin took his role as “Uncle Kevie” to his nieces Marabelle and Lily very seriously. He took great pleasure in spoiling the girls endlessly, much to Tracy’s dismay! He was the big brother to Tracy, Jeff, and Adam. He loved spending time in Muskoka with Tracy, Tim and the girls and thought of it as his ‘happy place’.
Kevin had a second family in his army buddies, earning him the nickname of ‘Potsie’ that stuck with him for over 30 years. Potsie will be remembered for his dry sense of humour, his extremely large appetite, and his willingness to help those he could. Potsie always put his brothers first, before his own needs. He would always return your call and make sure to check-in.
Kevin was very much loved and will be sadly missed by Tracy, Tim, Marabelle, Lily, Jeff, Adam, Aunt Janet, his family, his army family, and his many friends and colleagues.
Rest peacefully Uncle Kevie/Potsie, we love you.
Non Nobis Sed Patriae.
Xoxo
