Johnson, Lars Bernard It is with great sadness we announce the unexpected, but peaceful passing of Lars Bernard Johnson at the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital, on May 15, 2015. Lars was born on April 25, 1929 in Kirkland Lake, Ontario. Lars was predeceased by his mother Hilda, his father Axel and his wife Ida (29 forever). He leaves behind his only sister Vivian and numerous nieces & nephews, as well as his very special friend and companion of many years Shirley. Lars grew up in Kirkland Lake, attended Kirkland Lake Collegiate and married wife Ida in 1954. Shortly thereafter, the bright lights of the city lured them south. Lars spent most of his life in various occupations, primarily in the Toronto area. Although he lived the city life, he never forgot his roots and always craved the North, especially the cabin on Lake Sesekinika that he and his father built. He also loved the annual fishing trips farther North. The cabin was made into a retirement home where he and Ida enjoyed a short, but very wonderful time, until Ida's passing in 1994. Lars will be fondly remembered as a very caring person, full of wit, (with a slight touch of mischievousness) by all his family and the many friends and acquaintances he made over the years. A memorial celebration & gathering will be held at Reynolds Funeral Home ‘Turner Chapel' in Bracebridge, on Saturday, May 23,2015 between 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm. Memorial tributes will be shared promptly at 4:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of your choice. Messages of condolence can be made at www.reynoldsfuneral.com
