Leslie Ross Snell
1952 – 2023
Les was born in Allensville and resided on the Snell Family Homestead until he was 2 years old. He moved and grew up in Raymond when his parents Ross & Anke Snell purchased a farm there.
During his 20s and 30s, he spent time in the Sudbury ON area, Edmonton AL, and Victoria BC where he earned his pilot's license flying over the Rockies. He made lifelong friends everywhere he resided.
Les’s deep connection to the land eventually brought him back to Ontario to follow his dad into farming in Raymond. Even amidst all the hard work, Les found time to enjoy sports including snowmobile & motorcycle racing and the more relaxed activities of billiards, golfing, curling, and kayaking. More very good friends and great supportive neighbors filled his life there.
After several years of health setbacks which he handled stoically, Les left us peacefully at the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital on Sunday, October 15, 2023. His family gratefully thanks the staff there for the compassionate care they gave.
Les is survived by sisters Dorothy (Kingshott), Karen (Beatty), and Sandra, brothers Roy and Christopher, sister-in-law Lizanne (Barron), and was a fond uncle to six nephews – Martin, Kevin, Colin, Eric, Brent, and Geordie.
His final resting place will be the Ullswater Cemetery.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion in Bracebridge on Sunday, November 19, 2023, from 1 – 4 PM.
