We sadly announce the passing of Lorna Marguerite Hawn at South Muskoka Memorial Hospital, Bracebridge, Ontario on Wednesday, July 17, 2019 in her ninety-third year.
Beloved wife of the late Reginald Tryon. Loving mother of Gerald Tryon (Darlene), Jeanette Keir (Jim), and the late Deanna Howarth (Jim). Cherished grandmother of Francine, Farah, Brandon (Megan), Jamie (Tracey), Carmen (Joel), Sara (Emerson), Miranda (Jon), Karolyn (Colin), and Ian (Beth). Adoring great-grandma of Lyric, Ronin, Sophia, Clara, Addison, Ruby, Max, Lucy, Harriet, Emmett, and Phoebe. Dear sister of Aubrey Hawn (Roeli), Evelyn Howell (Bill), Lloyd Hawn (Verna), and Bruce Hawn (Gladys). Youngest daughter of Alexander and Robina Hawn. Special aunt to many nieces and nephews. Treasured friend to so many.
No matter what chapter of Lorna’s life we look at, we see a familiar theme. She loved, and was loved by all who knew her. Stories she told about her childhood at Matthiasville, high school, and nurses’ training all contain names of people who remained constant throughout her life. Work colleagues from Bracebridge Memorial Hospital, the Greig Clinic, Corning Glass, Uniroyal, and Scandura were valued and remembered, and certainly everyone at Hammonds Travel (perhaps her favourite job of all) were important to her throughout her life. The Muskoka Falls card group she declared as “such a great bunch” were irreplaceable. Friends from McVittie Place, from Granite Ridge, old neighbours, new neighbours, names that go back years and years, others that were added only recently, the list goes on and on.
Lorna loved her family, every generation. Each one of us has been a recipient of her care, of her constant love. She had an uncanny ability to connect with children especially. We will all miss her so very much.
