With sadness we announce the unexpected passing of Lutz Eichhorn on June 6, 2022 at his residence in Bracebridge. He was born in Wuppertal, Germany, the son of Gerd and Hildegarde Eichhorn both of whom predeceased him. His family moved to Canada when he was a young boy and he grew up in Thornhill and King City, Ontario.
As a young man Lutz enjoyed reading about marine biology and set up several aquariums during his life. Although he enjoyed this as a hobby to the end of his life, he was not given the opportunity to pursue that field professionally. Lutz apprenticed and mastered his skills at the hand of his master carpenter father. Lutz became a skilled carpenter, with a specialty in kitchen design and installation, as well as fine oak cabinetry and wine cellar designs and installation. He dedicated himself to his clients and their projects.
Lutz was most proud of his children’s accomplishments and was a good father. Lutz is survived by his former wife Ruth, and son Geoffrey (Alison Clasper) and daughter Carolyn (Tyler McKenzie) and grandchildren Oliver and Quinn Eichhorn.
Cremation has taken place. A private interment of cremated remains will be held at a later date. Donations may be made in Lutz’s memory to Habitat for Humanity Ontario Gateway North https://www.habitatgatewaynorth.com/donations/donate
