Mary Christina Haddon (née Rayner) November 10, 1918 - March 1, 2015 In joy and peace we announce the passing of Mary Christina Haddon (née Rayner) in her 97th year on March 1, 2015 at home in Bracebridge, Ontario. She was predeceased by her husband Michael, sister Patricia Pocock, brothers Father Frank Rayner (OMI), George and Angus, son-in-law David Warwood and granddaughter Laura Lafontaine (née Warwood). She will be greatly missed by her six children, Jackie Haroun (Gamal), Michael Haddon, Margaret Bennett (Mark), Dorothy Leonard (Edward), Mary Gorlick (Geoff) and John Haddon (Ruth), by her 21 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren. Mom grew up in Vancouver, one of seven children. She attended the Sacred Heart Convent in Vancouver, and then became an R.N. at St. Paul's Hospital. She met and fell in love with her roommate's twin brother Mike Haddon, who it turns out, was born at the same hospital eight days after her. Their story is epic and has been remembered at various "living funerals" over the last fifteen years, and will be recounted again when we celebrate our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother's life in May. Mary Haddon was a lady in every way and did her utmost to impress upon her progeny the quintessence of etiquette, couth and grammar. To the end of our days, when asked how we are, each of us will respond "Well, thank you". Mom was resilient, tolerant, well-read, sharp as a tack even to the end. As kind and gentle as she could be, she did not suffer fools gladly. She was well loved by the Red Cross (Community Care) gals and The Friends who tended so sweetly and generously to her in her final years. Mary's piety was without question and as her grandson's wife put so aptly to her two year old, "There's no question that Great Grandma has gone up up up to God." It is difficult to imagine our family without our peaceable matriarch nodding her support to each of us through life. Her presence and her wise grace will live on in our hearts forever. There will be a Funeral Mass and celebration of Mom's life in Bracebridge, Ontario at 1:00 pm, on Saturday May 23, 2015 at St. Joseph's Church, McMurray Street. Please wear pink if you wish. It was mom's favourite colour. Online condolence can be made at www.reynoldsfuneral.com
