Mary Kerr

KERR, Mary Jane. Passed away July 16, 2018, in Bracebridge, Ontario, in her 100th year. The whole family was blessed to be part of her very special 100th birthday party at Castle Peak Retirement Home on July 4th. Mary was predeceased by her husband James W. Kerr, by her twin sister Grace Griffiths and her brother George Stone. Loving mother of Margaret Grace Kerr of Jamaica, Maryanne Davis Wright (Marnie) of Bracebridge and Bradley James Kerr (Sandra Marsden) of Toronto. Devoted grandmother of Davis Barton (Doug Barton), Megan Hill (Ian Bies), Caitlin Hill (Warren Black), Nathan Wright (Diane Fotopoulos) and twins Sean and Tyson Kerr. Cherished great grandmother of Natalie, Patrick, Finnian, Jack and Zoe. Loving aunt of Deborah Corbin (Joe Corbin). Mary was born in Port Perry, Ontario in 1918. Mary was graduated from U of T's College of Pharmacy in the very first class where women were allowed to enrol. She married Jim, the love of her life, in 1943. They lived in Don Mills, Ontario and retired full time to Muskoka in 1971, after having been cottagers on Clear Lake in Torrance for 22 years. Mary was a life-long artist that continued to be creative right through her nineties. Over the years she won many ribbons for her painting and shell art work at the Bracebridge Fall Fair. Thank you to Castle Peak Retirement Home and all the wonderful staff who made it truly her home during her time there. Thank you also to her many care workers who were so loving and compassionate.
