Mary Jane Rogers died peacefully on June 15, 2023 in Port Carling, at the age of 86. Mary Jane was pre-deceased by her beloved husband Edwin Rogers. She was born in Sarnia to Gwen and Daniel Doherty (both deceased) and was pre-deceased by her sister Patricia. Mother of Kevin and Marianne Rogers, doting grandmother to Holly and Will Stapleton and loving Aunt to many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Mary Jane and Edwin’s shared love of Muskoka and the Lake Rosseau family property led to much entertaining as family and friends were always welcome. Summer days spent swimming, sunbathing and boating culminated in wonderful ‘happy hours’, hoisting margaritas while chatting and laughing on the porch. After the passing of the love of her life, Edwin, Mary Jane was steadfast in ensuring she carried on the Rogers legacy in Muskoka, as the matriarch of the cottage. Friends and family took comfort in dropping in for a chat, a jump off the boathouse roof or a delicious meal. She also enjoyed painting, golfing, flower arranging, and playing bridge and Mahjong. She delighted in her artistic pursuits and her role as a homemaker. Mary Jane took great pleasure in designing and puttering in the gardens around her treasured “Northwind” and cherished her memories of singing with the Minettones. Pour yourself an Irish whiskey and raise your glass in honour of Mary Jane.
Personal condolences and memories may be shared at www.reynoldsfuneral.com. A private family gathering will be held to honour her passing. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Andy’s House Hospice https://www.hospicemuskoka.com/donate or Ontario SPCA Muskoka Animal Centre https://ontariospca.ca/muskoka/ , would be greatly appreciated.
