Michael (Mike, Mickey) Posnikoff May 15, 1921 - December 2, 2013 After a courageous battle with cancer, Mike passed away at St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto. Dearly loved husband for 64 years of Mary (Heinamaki). Cherished father of Donna and her husband Glen, grandchildren Jeff and his wife Laura, Jenny, Jessica, beloved father of his son Peter and grand-daughter Cassandra, his daughter Marianne and her husband David and grand-daughters Lisa and Dr. Karen Slater all of Vancouver. Great grandpa (Pappa) of Thomas, William "Willpower" and Kayden. Mike is survived by his brother Dr. Jack Posnikoff of California who has mentored us through this most tragic loss. Mike was born in Canora, Saskatchewan; however, the family moved to Toronto where he was employed by CN until his retirement. He and his wife Mary cottaged in his beloved Muskoka for over 50 years at the cottage that he built for his family and they were happy times. Mike and Mary became snowbirds and for 23 seasons, family and friends from Canada were always welcome. Mike would start each day by squeezing fresh Florida orange juice for everyone and cheerfully provide chauffeuring services for the day, be it Disney World or Key West Sunsets. Mike and Mary became permanent residents of Huntsville for the last two years of his life. He was a caring and outstanding grandfather to Jeff, Jenny and Jessica. He will also be sadly missed by Candi Hunt. Mike was a kind and gentle man to everyone he met. Mike and Mary had planned to return to their Florida home for one last season but "..., he stopped loving her to-day". Cremation has taken place and a memorial gathering will take place at their Baysville cottage in the summer of 2014. As an expression of sympathy memorial donations can be made to the Salvation Army.
