Olla Olsen

Olsen, Olla McCaskill born April 5, 1955 in Orillia, Ontario to Phyllis Amy Creasor and Kenneth Ernest Olsen. Passed away suddenly at the Bracebridge Hospital Wednesday, January 20th, 2016 at age 60. Eternal companion and beloved husband for 36 years of Mickii L. Olsen (nee: Whittaker). Loving father to Phillip K. O. Olsen (Sarah) and Shane A. R. Olsen. Devoted grandfather to Michael James, David Rasmus, Alexandra Nixie Amara. Brother of Andrew K. Olsen, Wendy Kuijer (Jacob), Katrina Olsen-Heise (Roy). Growing up on Skeleton Lake, Olla learned to love all water activities from swimming to fishing to boating. A deep appreciation of animals and the great outdoors developed his love of nature and how everything is connected and interdependent. While in school Olla excelled in sports. His basketball skills were great. He also loved running, baseball and hockey. At the age of 14, Olla began building his good reputation as an uncomplaining hard worker as a stock boy at the Port Carling General Store. He was able to support all his interests and hobbies because of how much he worked as a teenager. When he was 20 years old, Olla was seriously injured as a passenger in a car accident out on highway 118 leaving him to relearn how to walk and talk again. While in the rehabilitation centre in Toronto he met his future wife, Mickii. With the devotion and supports of his amazing Mother and Father, Olla was able to become a contributing member of his community again, drive a car and marry a city girl who fell in love with his humour and wonderful sparkling blue eyes. Olla always made friends easily, and cared for everyone as though they were family. He was an eager volunteer in the community in such areas as: disability issues, school/parent activities, and the various groups and interests of his sons. He served the town of Bracebridge as a Crossing Guard for over 15 years. Olla contributed to the Central Muskoka 161 Legion as an active member for 20 years. Known for his wit, generosity and honesty he was highly respected in the community and will always hold a cherished place in our hearts.
