Peter James 'Jim' Murphy

Passed away peacefully the morning of March 29, 2022 in Bracebridge, ON with his family and their love surrounding him.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Jean Marion of 38 years; his son James Jr. (Laura), step-son William (Minky), step-daughters Deborah (Mike) and Susan (Matthew); grandchildren Isabella, Zachary, Jack, Rachel, Althea, Julia, Justin and Andrew; sister Lynda and predeceased by sister Shirley and brother Michael.

Born and raised in Stanley Park in Toronto, Jim worked most of his life as the manager of Piave Meat Packers in Toronto.  Prior to meeting Jean, he lived in Alderwood and had cottages on Skelton Lake in Muskoka.  He and his wife Jean lived in Etobicoke for many years, had a house in Florida, and a cottage in Baysville where he enjoyed fishing, boating, swimming and spending time with their children and grandchildren.   Jim loved bowling, tennis, horseshoes, Euchre, marbles, golf, pool, bocce, and baseball. Most of all, he loved animals, especially Buttons 1.0, Marmalade, sweet Oscar, Patches, Buttons 2.0, and Buddy.  He also loved to sing and in his retirement years, learned to play the guitar.  After selling their cottage in 2019, Jim and Jean have spent the last few years at their condo in Bracebridge.

There will be a Celebration of Life for Jim at Reynolds Funeral Home in Bracebridge, ON (1 Mary St., Bracebridge) on Saturday, April 2, 2022 with a viewing at 1:00 p.m. and the funeral service following at 2:00 p.m.  Should you wish to attend the service virtually via our live-stream option, registration is required and can be done by following the instructions below this obituary.
