Phyllis Joyce Love, R.N. Phyllis Joyce Love (nee McGray) was born in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia on November 14, 1923 and passed away with her family by her side at Huntsville District Memorial Hospital on August 13, 2011 at the age of 87. Survived by her loving husband of 61 years A.E. Dan Love, her children Raymond Love (Susan), Janice Hillyer (Jack), Ronald Love (Sheila), and her sister Margaret McGray as well as 7 grandchildren. Phyllis graduated from the nursing program at Yarmouth Hospital in Yarmouth Nova Scotia in 1945. In late 1948, she answered an advertisement for nursing with the Red Cross Hospitals and was posted to the Bracebridge Hospital. Her career at the Bracebridge Hospital and later the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital continued until her retirement in 1987. She served as Director of Nursing for 10 of those years. Respected for her care and leadership, she was known to carry her strong work ethic and sense of humour hand in hand as she carried out her nursing duties. The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 18th, 2011 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the Reynolds Funeral Home "Turner Chapel", Bracebridge. Cremation has taken place. The family has requested a private memorial service. In lieu of flowers, Phyllis asks you to consider the South Muskoka Hospital Foundation or the Huntsville District Memorial Hospital Foundation.
