Ray passed away peacefully at the age of 88 on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at the Cowichan District Hospital, in Duncan on Vancouver Island in British Columbia with his wife Shirley at his side.
A long time resident of Bracebridge where he came from Toronto in 1966 and built the family home in 1967 with his wife Beverley on Wellington Street North in Bracebridge. Ray worked on the Avro Arrow at de Havilland Aircraft in Toronto as well as on the Dewline in Baffin Island in the early 1960s. He founded Bracebridge Rent-All in 1972 until it was sold in 1986 and was a member of the Bracebridge Lions Club. Ray later moved to Vancouver Island where he purchased & operated Seaview Marine Resort until the passing of his wife Dolores in 2008. He fell in love with The Island so much that it would become his new home. Ray loved his animals, tinkering in his workshop and was an avid boater & sailor.
He will be dearly missed by his children Sandra (David) in Georgetown, Laura (Brian) in Elmvale & Marilyn in Bracebridge. His grandchildren Spencer, Chris and Kelly and great granddaughter Karissa. Survived by his three sisters, Marion (John) in Saskatchewan, Joan in Bramalea and Susan (David) in Calgary.
Cremation has taken place.
Celebration of Life will be in Duncan, British Columbia after Covid restrictions lift.
Gone but not forgotten.
