Rev. Powell

Powell, Rev. Donald Clifford Passed away on July 7, 2016 at Hospice Huntsville at the age of 76 after a brief intense struggle with cancer. He was the loving husband of Enid (nee Bowyer) and father of Sharon Burritt (Royal), Kent Powell (Mary), Sheila Powell (David Tweddell), Gordon Flint (Lynda Goy-Flint) and predeceased by Ken Flint. Loving Grandfather to Drew and Brooklyn Burritt, Zachary Powell, Alex and Sophie Tweddell and Andrew and Naomi Flint. Don is survived by his three brothers; Gordon Powell (Elizabeth), Douglas Powell (Evelyn) and Malcolm Powell (Jane) and their families. Don started his career as a minister of the United Church of Canada serving in Prince Edward Island and across Ontario and many congregations in the Muskoka Region. Don also had a lengthy career as an Area Manager with the Ministry of Correctional Services. In the last number of years Don served as a court mediator with Family Court in Bracebridge. Don served his community as an active member of Lion's Canada. A service of celebration of Don's life will be held on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Port Carling United Church, 1 Armstrong Rd., Port Carling, Ontario. Visitation with the family will be held on Monday, July 11, 2016 from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at the Port Carling United Church. Donations in memory of Don can be designated to either the Lion's Club - Senior Centre in Port Carling, the Port Carling United Church or to Hospice Huntsville, 100 Frank Miller Drive, Huntsville, ON P1H 1H7. The family would like to extend their appreciation to the many family and friends who offered their compassion and support over the last few months. Thank you to everyone.
