Robert (Bob) Bullen
September 18, 1937 – December 1, 2024
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert (Bob) Bullen, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. Bob passed away at 11:30 pm, on December 1, 2024.
He leaves behind his beloved Children. Chris Bullen (Julie), Elizabeth (Lee) Farkas (Michael) and Cheryl Bullen (Eric Katz). Along with Grandchildren - Kaitlyn, Jennifer, Nikki, Kitchener, and Sam; Great Grandchildren - Logan, Heidi, Hudson, Addison, Brooke, and Olivia.
Born in Englehart, Ontario, in the Red Cross Hospital Bob grew up in Milford Bay, where his family ran Inglewood Lodge during the summer months. He attended Milford Bay Public School, followed by Bracebridge High School. He left high school for two years to work full-time delivering milk to homes and cottages across Muskoka, a job that reflected his strong work ethic and connection to his community.
In 1960 he worked on the Imperial Oil boat serving the Muskoka lakes, after the season ended, he went to Toronto to find a job with Imperial Oil. A chance encounter while asking for directions led him to apply to the Toronto Police Force, where he interviewed and hired by Police Chief Bob Macky—a fellow milk delivery alum.
Bob married his high school sweetheart, Bev, and together they built a beautiful life in Toronto, raising their three children. Bob loved the structure and discipline of police work. Among his proudest moments was teaching at the police college and serving as a Staff Inspector, where he organized visits for dignitaries, including fond memories of meeting the Queen Mother.
Bob was deeply committed to giving back to his community. He volunteered with Big Brothers, Special Olympics, Grace and Speed, church committees, and he coached basketball. A lifelong lover of sports, Bob enjoyed curling, running, watching football, and Formula 1 racing.
Bob’s happiest times were in Muskoka, sharing sunset boat rides and canoeing adventures with Bev. They cherished dancing to big band music at the cottage, traveling to destinations like Niagara-on-the-Lake, and doting on their beloved yellow labs, Daisy, and Skokie.
Bob had a deep appreciation for Muskoka’s history, vintage cars, and the stories of the old lodges and steamships. In recent years, he found joy in scenic car rides, identifying every vintage car he spotted, and enjoying his favorite treat: an ice capp from Tim Horton’s.
Bob’s greatest legacy lies in the values he passed on to his family. He was a man of strong faith, dedicated to helping others and making the world a better place.
His wish for all of us is simple yet profound: to find happiness and to give back.
Forever in our hearts, Bob and Bev’s lives were a testament to love, service, and family.
