Robert Varty

VARTY, Robert John Bob was born in Philadelphia PA, U.S.A. in 1927. Moved with his parents to Canada at an early age, he grew up in the Toronto Beaches neighbourhood and graduated from Malvern Collegiate in 1946. Received his B. Com. from the University of Toronto in 1951 and his MBA from York University in 1970. He held a number of managerial posts with the Ontario Provincial Government until retiring from the Ministry of Revenue in 1990. Bob was active in the Toronto arts community with Workscene Artists Co-operative and was an enthusiastic participant in various athletics as an alumni member at Hart House & Glendon College, particularly squash and tennis. Robert passed away peacefully, at Leisureworld Muskoka Nursing Home in Gravenhurst, on Thursday, April 19, 2012 in his 86th year. Beloved husband of Patricia of Bracebridge. Loving father of Paul, Michael (Catherine) and Valerie Bird. Predeceased by daughter-in-law Michelle Leger and son-in-law George Bird. Proud grandfather of Heather, Daniel, Andre, Claire & Pauline Varty and Robert Bird. Many thanks to the staff of Leisureworld Muskoka for their care and support.
