It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Russell Anderson, 87, on May 25, 2022, peacefully with family at his side, after a longbattle with cancer. Russell was previously from the village of Vankoughnett. Russell was born on January 21, 1935 to Henry and Ruby Anderson in the town of Bracebridge.
Russell completed his apprenticeship as an electrician at Toronto Carpet. He became a tool and die maker for Rockwell International in Foley Township. Russell married his childhood sweet heart Jacqueline in 1955. Russ and Jackie went on to have three children, Donna (Barry), John (deceased) and David (Aline).
Russell retired from the manufacturing industry and purchased a small restaurant gas bar. Russ and Jackie worked very hard at this venture, turning it into the largest truck stop in the area, The White Stallion Truck Diner.
After a number of years in the field, Russell wanted to pursue his hobbies so he retired. All his life Russell enjoyed the outdoors. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, snowmobiler and gardener. Russ enjoyed these interests with his family by his side teaching them how to enjoy life. As Russ grew older, gardening became his main interest. He grew a very large vegetable garden every year and enjoyed treating his friends and neighbours to some of its bounty. Over the years Russell kept busy. He was always willing to help his friends and neighbours whenever he could.
Russell was predeceased by his wife Jackie, son John, sisters Eva and Hilda, brother Harry and parents Henry and Ruby Anderson. Russell is survived by his daughter Donna (Barry) and son David (Aline). Russell is also survived by eight grandchildren seven greatgrandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
There is no event planned as Russell did not want to have services.
If you wish, you may make a donation to the Cancer Society in Russell's honour or to a charity of your choice.
