Ken passed away on Friday, November 15, 2019 at the age of 87. He was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Shirley (2011). He is survived by his son Jeff (Shelley), grandchildren Samuel and Jackson, sister Helen (Tom, Diana, Deb) and his extended Smith family Carol, Michael, Jill, Alice, Connor, Avery and Devon. Ken was born in Englehart Ontario on July 7, 1932, but grew up in Huntsville. He was an active guy who played competitive lacrosse in his youth. Later he loved to ski and enjoyed golf. As a teenager he met his lifelong sweetheart Shirley Thompson. Ken and Shirley raised their son Jeff in Huntsville, where they had a busy life filled with work, fun and friends. Ken had a varied and interesting work life. His jobs included working at the Avro Arrow plant, managing the Philadelphia Wings lacrosse team and working as a purchaser for Minaki Lodge. When they retired, Ken and Shirley moved to Bracebridge to be close to family. They devoted a great deal of time to their grandsons. As a Grandpa, Ken did school pickups, fished off the dock, watched numerous sporting events, and loved unconditionally. Ken was an exceptional husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be missed. At Ken`s request, there will be no public visitations or funeral. In lieu of flowers donations to South Muskoka Memorial Hospital greatly appreciated and may be arranged through Reynolds Funeral Home.
