Darlene Fraser

April 22, 1945 — October 16, 2024

Bracebridge

Darlene Fraser (née Tomlinson) passed away peacefully at Andy’s House Port Carling on the morning of Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at the age of 79. Born in Owen Sound on April 22, 1945, Darlene was the cherished daughter of Albert and Eletha Tomlinson.

Throughout her life, Darlene called Bala, Gravenhurst, and Bracebridge home, holding each place close to her heart.

She dedicated many years to the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital as an Executive Assistant, taking great pride in her work and often reminiscing fondly about the wonderful memories she made during her time there. In her younger years she was actively involved with community projects and volunteered with many organizations.

She was best known for her hospitality and snacks for all occasions including hosting the best holiday parties and always welcoming everyone.

Darlene found joy in life’s simple pleasures, whether exploring the scenic backroads of Muskoka, driving trips to Cape Cod and Florida, or venturing back to Owen Sound, her old stomping grounds.

Dar’s favourite season was autumn she loved crisp mornings, the smell of fallen leaves, and sitting by a crackling fire.

She was a devoted mother to Alison Fraser-Robson (Mark) of Bracebridge and Paul Fraser (Lorrie) of Gravenhurst, and a loving grandmother to Sydney and Tye. Darlene is survived by the father of her children Edward Ted Fraser.

She is further survived by her brother Ross Tomlinson (Anne-Marie) of Calgary and by her sister Carol Williams-Bijorgan and was predeceased by her beloved sister Shari Douglas (Butch) of Owen Sound. In her later years, she enjoyed the company of her close friend, Art.

Darlene’s kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for her family and friends will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She leaves behind a lasting legacy of warmth, laughter, and treasured memories that will live on in the hearts of those she touched.

Special thanks to the staff at Andy’s House, for helping us through a very difficult time.
