Thomas Switzer

It is with great sadness that the family of Thomas Owen Switzer announces the passing on June 22, 2022 at the age of 98.  Loving husband of Jean (deceased 2018) for 71 years.  Owen will be fondly remembered by his children Glenn (Mary), Gary (Kathy), Sandra (Peter) and Karen.  Cherished grandfather of Michael, Kevin, Cara, Stephen, Todd, Greg and Wendy and several great grandchildren.

Owen was born in Toronto and studied at the Appleby College. He served in the Algonquin Regiment overseas. He married his love Jean and they raised their family together in Leaside.  Owen and his father were former employees at T. Eaton Company.Owen had many hobbies including hockey, shuffleboard, waterskiing, dancing and many cribbage nights.  After retirement they bought a motorhome and toured the US and Canada and chose to settle in Fort Myers for many winters as snowbirds.  Owen and Jean travelled far and wide enjoying several cruises and trips to Ireland to visit family.  He called home several places but his most favorite place was Tipperary Cottage with family and friends.

Owen was a caring, admirable, giving and selfless gentleman.  He had a simple soul although stubborn at times.  He will always be in our hearts and minds for the rest of our lives.

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.  As your expressions of sympathy memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
