Walter E. Kotva, R.C.N.V.R., OPP (retired) On Friday, March 20, 2009, at the age of 86, surrounded by his family, at South Muskoka Memorial Hospital in Bracebridge. Loving husband of Marion (nee Craddock). Will be missed by his children Mary DeCaire (George), Catherine Cooper (Gerry) and David (Karen). Proud grandfather of Corey and Jordan DeCaire, Shane and Laura Brookes, Chris and Stephen Cooper, and Carolyn and Heather Kotva. Dear brother of Casey Kotwa (Patricia) and Julie Doherty (Joe d.). Predeceased by sister Annie Slawski (Stan) and brothers Stan and John. Brother-in-law of Edie Kotva, Elaine and Stewart Kell, Colleen and Stan Gilpin, Raymond (deceased) and Connie Craddock. Close uncle of many nieces and nephews. Walter served his country in the navy during World War II on Motor Torpedo Boats. He was an O.P.P Officer for 37 years, serving in many communities. Walter most enjoyed his 13 years policing the waters surrounding Manitoulin Island on the "Manitou". He was instrumental in the development of the O.P.P. Marine Division and finished his career as Staff-Sergeant in charge of the Marine Unit. Service will be held at Reynolds Funeral Home "Turner Chapel", 1 Mary St., Bracebridge at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25. Visitation at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital Foundation.
